This is a healthy tiffen, you can serve for your family. The colour and taste may not easily accustom to the kids, but once you practice them, sure they may have it regularily and enjoy the benefits of ragi. Still you can serve this tangy, spicy uppuma to the family members with a satisfaction that you have served a healthy rich food.
Ingredients :
1. Ragi flour - 1 cup
2. Red chillies or green chillies - 3-4
3. Onions - 1 big size (finely chopped)
4. Garlic - 3-4 cloves ( chopped into small pieces)
5. Tamarind juice - 1/4 cup or as required
6. Salt - as required
7. Water - 1 1/2 - 2 cups
Seasoning:
1. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
2. Channa dhal - 2 tsp
3. Curry leaves - 5-6
Method:
1. Heat a wok. Add 2 -3 tbs of oil to the wok. Add Mustard seeds, channa dhal and curry leaves. Once they got fried, add chopped red chillies, chopped onion and garlic to the wok and fry for 2-3 minutes.
2. Add water and tamarind juice to the wok. Add salt. Once the water started to boil add the ragi flour the wok and close with a lid. Don't stir the flour. Cook it a medium heat, to avoid browning. Check out the water level after 5 minutes. Now give a nice stir, so that the flour gets blend well.
3. Close the lid and cook for 10 -15 minutes in a medium heat or until it gets cooked completely.
4. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve it hot to your family members.
