CHUTNEY FOR BAJJI ( TOMATO, ONION CHUTNEY)

Once my friend invited me to her house on winter evening and served hot potato and ghobi bajji with this chutney. The taste of the chutney was just similar to the one we use to get in our chennai marina beach, bajji stalls. I just want to share with you people and want to enjoy this winter.

Ingredients :

1. Onion - 1 big size
2. Tomato - 2 big size
3. Urud dhal - 2 tbs
4. Red chillies - 5-6
5. Salt - as required

Seasoning :

1. Mustard seeds - 1 tps
2. Curry leaves - 4-5
3. Oil - as required

Method :

1. Heat oil in a pan, add urud dhal, red chilles. Fry until golden fry.

2. Add chopped onions and tomatoes. Fry until they get soft. Transfer to a bowl and allow it to cool for room temperature.

3. Add salt and grind it to a fine paste.

4. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and curry leaves. add the grind chutney mixture and allow to boil for 2-3 minutes. The consistency of the chutney should be be little watery.

5. Serve hot with hot bajji. This chutney goes well with idly and dosa also.
