LOTOUS ONION

I learned this recipe from an American Television, and I was very much impressed about the presentation of this recipe.  This is similar to our onion bajji and tastes very close to onion rings. Why can't you try this recipe and share to your friends and families.


Ingredients:


1. Big onion - 1 ( medium size or big size)
2. All purpose flour - 1/2 cup or as required
3. Bread crumbs - 1/2 cup or as required
4. Salt - as required
5. Pepper powder - Optional
6. Oil - for deep frying

Method:



1. Peel the outer skin of the onion and cut the onions into lotus shape. You have to keep the centre part as it is and cut the rest of the part of the onion an spread it like lotus flower. 



2. Mix all purpose flower, salt and pepper powder. Add required amount of water and prepare a nice smooth batter. The consistency should be like a bajji batter.


3. Dip the onion into the batter, then rotate it in  bread crumbs. Or you can even sprinkle the bread crumbs all over the onion. Your bread crumbs should be a thick coat on onion.


4. Heat oil in the pan. Once the oil gets heated, slowly drop the onion and deep fry it to golden brown. Do it carefully, without breaking the onion's shape.


5. Transfer the fried onion lotus to the tissue paper to absorb extra oil.  While serving this fried onion lotus, you can pour cream cheese in the center and present it to your guest or family members.
